Roger Cummiskey´s paintings capture moments of quiet intensity and undiscovered beauty. His use of primary colors lends an air of nostalgia to his pictures, which distinguishes his work and creates a sense of timelessness.
Cummiskey’s compositions often capture the viewer’s attention with their simple, recognizable scenes, drawing the viewer’s attention to unexpected textures, nuances of shadow and brilliant bits of light.
Roger Cummiskey in terms of his ability is able to transform ordinary scenes of human life into moments ripe with dramatic possibility.
From Dublin, in Ireland, he now lives and works in Mijas Costa, Spain where he says he is able to find the “daily poetry” which inspires his art.
Roger has developed a unique individual style and specializes in paintings that take their themes and titles from the wanderings and writings of James Joyce, Samuel Beckett, Miguel de Cervantes and other Literary and Historical personalities. He is a recognized Joycean artist.
His paintings have been exhibited in Australia, China, Finland, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, UK, USA, and in many national and private shows in Ireland.
His paintings have represented Ireland at the Florence Biennale and also at International Art Exhibitions in London, Stockholm and New York.
